Biggs Museum of American Art 2025
Delaware Watercolor Society shows generally focus on recent work. For the exhibition at The Biggs, artists were invited to submit artwork from the last five years. Several of the paintings on view previously won awards at past shows. DWS president Marjorie Wuestner noted “Never before has DWS exhibited artwork that had already won awards in other DWS Exhibitions. Consequently, visitors to the Biggs Museum will be seeing ‘the best of the best’ DWS paintings on display” Biggs Curator, Laura Fravel added, “The judging process was uniquely difficult, and DWS artists submitted strong work showcasing unique qualities of watercolor. The resulting exhibition acts as a survey of watercolor in our region, and demonstrates a range of approaches and techniques-realistic and abstract, opaque and transparent. The result looks like a jewel box filled with luminous, vibrant colors.”
