Instructor Isabel Pizzolato helps workshop artists.

November 12, 2011, DWS, under the sponsorship of the Lewes Library, presented a three-hour workshop for individuals with little or no experience to try the wonders of watercolor. Instructor Isabel Pizzolato led the free workshop and provided step-by-step instructions on completing a small painting designed as a greeting card.

The workshop was made possible, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicate to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

The workshop was full and participants provided positive feedback on the event:

“Absolutely wonderful opportunity! A well-organized and fun event.”

“Isabel was a wonderful teacher, made me feel at ease and made the class relaxing and fun.”

“Workshop was great! Enjoyed having the group setting.”

Two more workshops will be scheduled for 2012.

During the month of November, DWS members displayed their artwork in the country club gallery in Rehoboth.  Members also donated several boxes of art supplies to the Cape Henlopen High School’s senior art program.  The proceeds from the sale of painting also went to the art seniors.  Thanks to all members who participated and provided support for this even.

“Thanks so much for all the art supplies...we are already using some of them...please let the group know that they were appreciated...thanks again!”

Rehoboth Elementary School

  ThankYou

In 2011,  DWS will  be participating in more community outreach and educational efforts.  You will receive announcements about these when they are available on our blog and here under "We Support."   Here are the first two.  If you would like to plan similar events in your area, please contact your Kent or Sussex County Regional Directors listed on our Members page, or you can write to DWS at PO Box 984, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.

- As you may recall, at our annual meeting last June, Rehoboth Elementary art teacher, Kelly Palladino made a presentation about their artist-in-residence program.  At that time, we donated many bags of art supplies and some cash to the school. Kelly and the children sent us  thank you letters and a class schedule.

Please consider volunteering at the school. It can be one day for one week.  Take a look at the schedule below, and if you are interested, contact Kelly Palladino-Ranieri at kpalladino@cape.k12.de.us and let her know. Kelly will  also send you the forms you need to volunteer.

thank you
