Fall Juried Fine Art Exhibition at Grace Church  

       September 5 - October 1, 2008

 

CALL FOR ENTRIES:  

The Delaware Watercolor Society (DWS) invites you to enter the annual, Fall Fine Art Exhibition to be held in the galleries at Grace Church, Ninth and Washington Streets in Wilmington, DE 19801.

 

JUROR:

We are very pleased to have Kass Morin Freeman, AWS, NWS, nationally recognized artist, and workshop leader act as this year’s Juror of Selection and Awards.  Born in Philadelphia, Freeman studied at the Moore College of Art and Design and Tyler School of Fine Art.  She has been involved for more than thirty years as teacher, juror and workshop instructor with various groups and art institutions.

Freeman is the winner of more than a hundred awards in national, international and regional exhibitions. Her works can be found in such books as Make Your Watercolors Look Professional, Splash 3 and Splash, Best of Watercolor II, Watercolor for the Serious Beginner, Creative Expressions in Watercolor, and “International Showcase of Prize Winners” in International Artist, issues 14 and 21.

ELIGIBILITY:

All artists, 18 years old or above, residing in Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania or New Jersey are invited to submit one or two original, transparent watercolor works on paper which have been created within the last three years.

 

Requirements:

All entries must be for sale and not previously exhibited in any prior DWS show.  Giclées, prints or mixed-media works are not eligible in this exhibition.  FRAME SIZE SHALL NOT EXCEED 40 INCHES IN EITHER DIRECTION NOR BE SMALLER THAN 12 INCHES IN EITHER DIRECTION WITH A MAXIMUM WEIGHT OF THIRTY POUNDS.  ALL PAINTINGS MUST BE MATTED WITH PLAIN WHITE, CREAM OR LIGHT GRAY MAT, FRAMED UNDER GLASS OR UNDER PLEXIGLASS IF LARGER THAN 24 INCHES BY 36 INCHES, SUITABLY WIRED AND READY TO HANG.  BACKING MUST BE ARCHIVAL.

 

Poorly matted or framed paintings are subject to disqualification. 

 

A 15% commission will be taken on all sales.

 

ENTRY FEES:

DWS members -- $25 for up to two entries

Non-members -- $30 for up to two entries

 

DELIVERY PROCEDURES:

Entries are to be delivered by hand only on the dates indicated below.  Please complete the Entry Form and give it to the DWS gallery aide at the time of delivery of your painting(s) along with the designated entry fees.  Checks should be made payable to Delaware Watercolor Society.  Please complete the Label Form and a separate label for each painting submitted, attach a label to the wire on the back of your painting(s).  Art work will not be accepted without the required, fully completed forms.

 

Drop-Off Entry:

Tuesday, August 26, 2008  between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 27, 2008 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

 

NOTIFICATION:  Artists whose work has NOT been accepted into the show will be notified by phone on August 28, 2008.

 

PICK-UP OF NON-ACCEPTED ARTWORK: 

            Monday, September 1, 2008 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

            Tuesday, September 2, 2008 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

 

PICK-UP OF ACCEPTED WORKS AT END OF SHOW:

            Wednesday, October 1, 2008 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Thursday, October 2, 2008 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

 

RIGHTS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND LIABILITIES:

Entries not meeting any of the above conditions will be rejected.  DWS reserves the right to determine the suitability of the artwork for this exhibit.  Submitting an entry or entries for this exhibit means that

 

OPENING RECEPTION:

Friday, September 5, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  This is also the date for Wilmington’s

 ART on the Town event.  The reception is free and open the general public.

 

GALLERY HOURS:

The Grace Church Galleries are open Monday thru Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  For other days, call to make special arrangements.
